About Debate Academy
ABOUT THE
UYNGO “DEBATE ACADEMY”
All-Ukrainian Youth Non-Governmental Organization “Debate Academy” is a union of intellectual-rhetorical game “Debates” worshippers. It is established to liven up the work and development of debate movement in Ukraine; to support the purposeful talented youth; to give it an opportunity to actively participate in formation of Ukraine as European, wealthy, jural state; to educate the youth according to the spirit of democracy, humanism, respect to the individual rights and freedom.
UYNGO “Debate Academy” is established by the young people form different regions of Ukraine and involves about 250 members and 1000 debate events participants. The organization has strong regional system, which most active regional departments are: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovs’k, Luts’k and Lviv.
During year 2007 UYNGO “Debate Academy” carried out various projects, aimed at the youth activization, discussing and developing plans of actions for maintaining jural society and further democratization of people and state relations. The most effective recent projects and activities were:
Second All-Ukrainian Tournament “Kyiv Heart” in November 2007 (main partners: OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union);
Annual All-Ukrainian summer debate school in August 2007 (main partners: Ukrainian Reform Supporting Centre, Youth club “Spivdruzhnist’”);
Debate Leagues, Schools and Tournaments in different regions all over Ukraine September 2007 – April 2008: (main partner – Ministry of Education and Science);
All-Ukrainian methodical debate seminar January 2008 (main partner – Kyiv national Taras Shevchenko University);
International debate tournament “FIRE” in March 2008 (with support of deputy Olesya Orobets’);
Debate Educational Weekend April 2008 (trainer – prominent British debater and rhetoric trainer G. Rhydian Morgan)
At present, UYNGO “Debate Academy” is the only organization in Ukraine that develops debate movement all over Ukraine and is the only representative of the youth interests that are engaged in debates at the national level.
According to the results of All-Ukrainian youth rating 2007, UYNGO “Debate Academy” was declared the best newly established organization in Ukraine.
