«BERDYANSKYI RYNG- 2011» INVITES

Youth club “Sodruzhestvo” of Berdyansk city and All-Ukrainian Youth NGO “Debate Academy” are pleased to announce that the Open Debate Tournament for high-school students „Berdyanskiy Ryng-2011” will take place on 9th – 11th of September, 2011 (Berdyansk, Zaporozhskaya region) in a children’s health camp “Krasnaya gvozdika”. The tournament is held within “Learn Debating” programme supported by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

International debate tournament for high-school students from Ukraine and other countries, who speak Ukrainian, Russian or English languages. During the tournament an important topic will be discussed, the general issue of “Cultural Diversity” presupposes the discussion of such topics as counteraction to xenophobia, racism and discrimination.
The motions of the preliminary rounds is “TH would ban music bands that promote violence (semiclosed)”; the motion for the finals “TH believes that open borders of Europe will lead to its decay\collapse” (open). The motion of the semifinals will be announced 15 minutes before the round
The tournament will be held in World Schools Debate Format and will consist of three tracks: Ukrainian-speaking, Russian-speaking and English-speaking. Each of the tracks has four preliminary rounds, semi-finals and a final. Sightseeing tour and interesting cultural program will be organized for the participants.
„Berdyanskiy Ryng-2011” is a great opportunity to become acquainted with debate community and to visit a picturesque shore of the Azov Sea during warm autumn period!

Whom we are waiting for
Participants from Ukraine and other countries who can speak Ukrainian, Russian or English in the following statuses:
? debaters (schoolchildren of 8-12 form);
? coaches / judges / attendants.

Requirements of participation:
Participation fee is 400 UAH (340 UAH for accommodation and organizational fee of 60 UAH), or $50. It covers costs of 3 meals and accommodation for one person from 12.00 on the 9th of September till 14.00 on the 11th of September. The participation fee is paid during registration on the first day of the tournament. Each extra day of staying at health camp “Krasnaya gvozdika” will cost 160UAH or $20.
Accommodation: 2-storey buildings, 4-person rooms, shared bathroom on the floor. (http://gvozdika.in.ua).

To become a participant of the tournament you need to fill in a registration form and send it by e-mail to friend@berdyansk.info / berdyanskyi.ryng@gmail.com. Registration is open: from 27 July 2011 till 27 August 2011. Official invitations will be sent to participants by September 2, 2011.
